The new concept propagated by Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda for people of different faiths is to live in harmony in spite of apparent differences in different faiths and cultures. According to Swami Vivekananda all the religions are the different forces in the economy of God, working for the good of the mankind; ‘these are not contradictory but all are supplementary’. Based on the concept—’serve man as God’ and ‘each soul is potentially divine’ all the Ramakrishna Mission centres in Bangladesh besides Dhaka viz., Bagerhat, Baliati, Barisal, Chandpur, Chittagong, Dinajpur, Faridpur, Habiganj, Jashore, Kumilla, Mymensingh, Narayanganj, Rangpur and Sylhet have been carrying on all their activities for the good of the humanity. Having infused into the ideas and ideals as above the people in large number are taking increasing interest in the Ramakrishna Mission programs.
As a result, a good number of centres have come into being all around Bangladesh with the ideas and ideals of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda and cordial efforts taken by the devotees and like-minded people. About 100 such non-affiliated centres (Private Centre), popularly known as Ramakrishna Ashrama, have been established in different places in Bangladesh which are basically managed by the experienced local devotees and well-wishers. Besides, Vivekananda Shiksha O Sangskriti Parishad (Vivekananda Educational and Cultural centre) which was established at the instance of some senior students of Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University, has been working as the pioneer in the spirit of selfless service propagated by Swami Vivekananda serving the cause of the poor of all sects and races -‘You can’t help, you can serve only’. It has about 40 branches all over Bangladesh. A few more centres alike have been founded abroad viz., Vivekananda Human Centre, U.K., Vivekananda Study and Philanthropic Centre, USA, working in the same footing. All the centres are functioning in keeping in touch mainly with Ramakrishna Mission, Dhaka as well as other Ramakrishna Mission centres, home and abroad. The concept of living in harmony is the need of the day when there is a trend to live in division and selfish motivation. If such a concept of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda can be translated into practice, all the catastrophes and misunderstandings among the people may disappear and the world will become a better place to live in – an abode of peace and tranquility.
To propagate the ideas and ideals of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda more effectively through more organized way an advisory committee named ‘Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Bhava Prasar Parishad’ has been formed on the year 2012 under the guidance of Belur Math authority. All the affiliated and non-affiliated centres are the members of this committee.
